IMAGE Models Advice: Model Scouts
One of the most exciting thoughts that many young men and women have is being approached by a model scout and getting signed to a top modelling agency. The truth of the matter is that it's only the very lucky who will ever experience being signed by the likes of Storm models but there are many other agencies and routes into modelling that are accessible to everyone. As advertisers are choosing to represent their actual target consumers in their adverts more often, the criteria that modelling agencies have has broadened. This means that there is more competition, but also more work over all.

Talent scouts have their ideal model in mind for each project and will look through countless portfolios and attend many castings until they find the right one for their client. Their job has actually become harder in recent years as height is no longer such an issue, and nor is weight. Plus size modelling is big business now! This would've been unthinkable in the 90s.
They will look for key physical requirements though such as bone structure and being photogenic. Things that are harder to detect from photos though are personality, charm and style. This being said, if you are approached by someone claiming to be a model scout, have your wits about you. Genuine scouts are quite rare but photography salesmen are very common! IMAGE Models don't require a professional portfolio for registration, although high quality photos meeting portfolio requirements (headshot, bodyshot, etc) will work strongly in your favour.
